Enjoy Aloha vibes in the Valley Isle when you stay at Maui’s gorgeous Grand Wailea Resort. Our family has been coming to this incredible resort for over two decades and we’ve created memories that will last a lifetime. This is one of our favorite places to visit with our kids and extended family.
Some mornings, we started our day with a sunrise yoga class on the beach or with a workout at the resort’s state of the art gym. After breakfast, we took a leisurely half-hour walk along the beach checking out the magnificent view and spotting the whales as they swam by.
Grand Wailea is right on Wailea beach, which is widely considered one of the best beaches in the world. You’d be hard pressed to find more beautiful sunsets anywhere on earth (even Santorini… yeah, I said it!)
The best part about this resort is you can spend all day in the water enjoying their family friendly activity pool. We rode the waterslides, floated down the lazy river, and swam through waterfalls until we reached a cave with a jacuzzi.
We built sandcastles in the kiddie beach and made tons of new friends from all over the world. After hours of encouragement by our kids, I finally mustered up the courage to Tarzan swing my way into the pool.
Scott and I took turns chilling at the beautiful adults-only Hibiscus Pool and jacuzzi. That is also epic, since its adults only and will give you some serious relaxation in one of the most gorgeous spots on Maui.
You can rent a cabana or pretty easily get a nice set of chairs that either overlooks the ocean or the pool. They also have a number of lounge chairs that cascade down a beautiful green lawn that leads directly to Wailea beach. Of course, you can also get chairs directly on the beach, if you prefer.
Every trip, we make sure to head on over to the Monkeypod Kitchen which is just a five minute drive from the resort with the hotel’s complimentary shuttle service. They have an awesome Happy Hour every day from 3:30pm – 5pm with drink specials, half-off appetizers and $12 gourmet pizzas. And there’s always talented local musicians serenading you with reggae and pop tunes.
Our family faves include the Pumpkin Patch Ravioli, Coco Corn Chowder, Hamakua Wild Mushroom & Truffle Oil Pizza and the Upcountry Kale Salad. You must save room for dessert, because the homemade banana, strawberry, chocolate and coconut cream pies are out of this world.
During our stay we always head on over to The Shops at Wailea, which is a short walk from the resort. We enjoyed some yummy locally made ice cream from Lappert’s Hawaii while watching a gorgeous Polynesian show in the courtyard.
The resort’s world-famous Spa Grande is undergoing a major enhancement and is anticipated to re-open in the Winter of 2023. We can’t wait to go back and experience another relaxing afternoon in their Terme. We love soaking in the healing waters of their five baths that each offer different therapeutic benefits, rinsing off in the fireman’s shower, meditating in the sauna and braving the cold plunge pool. We always feel so refreshed and alive after our time at the spa.
We feel at peace taking in the breathtaking sunset every night at Wailea Beach and falling asleep to the sound of the waves crashing outside our door. Grand Wailea Resort is a place you’ll want to come back to every year with your family.
